Service Technician (Experienced)
The Service Technician will diagnose, service, and repair a wide range of light-construction equipment such as rammers, plate compactors, trench rollers, generators, air compressors, pumps, power trowels, and small engines. You will work under our Service Manager and be a key contributor to fast, high-quality repairs that keep our contractor customers running. This is a growth role—you will have opportunities to receive OEM training & mentorship from senior technicians, and a long-term career path.
Key Responsibilities :
Equipment Diagnostic & Repair
- Diagnose and repair light-construction equipment, small engines, and electrical systems.
- Perform routine maintenance, oil/air filter changes, carb cleanings, engine tune-ups, and hydraulic repairs.
- Troubleshoot fuel, ignition, electrical, and mechanical issues efficiently.
- Test repaired equipment for performance and safety.
Equipment Diagnostic & Repair
- Accurately document diagnostics, labor hours, and parts used in the Work Orders.
- Communicate repair status and recommendations to the Service Manager.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow all safety protocols.
Parts & Customer Coordination
- Identify correct parts using manufacturer diagrams and parts systems.
- Collaborate with parts counter for accurate and timely parts procurement.
- Occasionally assist with equipment check-in, customer questions, or field testing.
Teamwork & Continuous Improvement
- Work in coordination with senior technicians and shop managers.
- Attend OEM training sessions when available (Wacker Neuson, STIHL, Chicago Pneumatic, MultiQuip, Husqvarna etc)
Qualifications & Skills :
- Minimum 1 year hands-on experience repairing small engines or construction equipment.
- Education Experience – High School or Trade School or Equivalent.
- Strong mechanical aptitude in engines, hydraulics, electrical systems.
- Ability to diagnose issues independently with guidance when needed.
- Basic computer skills for work orders and parts lookup.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in shop/yard environment

Training: Completes all safety training as well as demonstrates effective safety practices. Works with other mechanics to obtain skills and knowledge to repair larger components. Training through manufacturer training courses a plus.
Equipment and Tool: The employee is expected to own the basic tools necessary to perform the job. All specialty tools and diagnostic equipment will be provided by the company. The company may assist employees in acquiring basic tools, if needed for the right candidate.
